Having problems?
- The most common problem is caused by entering too many criteria. Try entering just the state and you will get a list of every hospital in the state to choose from.
- You can limit the list by entering the City, ZIP Code prefix, or Area Code in addition to the state. This provides a list of just those hospitals. (Lists are limited to 1,000 hospitals, so it's generally best to just search one state at a time.)
- You can also enter just the hospital name and state. Caution: hospitals sometimes change names or may have "official names" that are different from the name you are used to. It may be better to enter just "community" instead of "community regional medical center." The look-up works with a single keyword that appears in the name, but won't work when a word is entered that is not in the name (e.g. entering "community hospital" when looking for "community regional medical center").
- One final hint: The directory is based on data files that may differ from what you expect. Be careful of abbreviations (e.g. St. vs Saint) and note that the hospital may not be located where you think (e.g. Bronx vs NYC) ... when in doubt, leave it out.
