Medicare
regulations defining inpatient prospective payment system (IPPS)
reimbursement are updated annually. Changes are generally
proposed around April 1 and finalized around September 1 for
implementation on October 1. AHD obtains these regulations
as soon as they are available as well as the Medicare billing data
(MedPAR) they are based on.
Proposed regulations
for fiscal year 2009 are now available as well as Medicare claims
data for fiscal year 2007, as billed before 12/31/2007.
These enable AHD to provide the following information services:
Projections for
subscribers
At the bottom of each hospital's Inpatient report there is now an
updated table showing case mix impact by medical service and
overall reimbursement impact attributable to the proposed
regulations.
FY07 MedPAR for
custom reporting
Medicare claims data for fiscal year 2007 (December file) are now
available for custom reporting. These include both
packaged reporting and reports
designed to client specifications.
Impact of
proposed regs
AHD's proprietary
Impact Model for analyzing regulatory impact is a recent innovation
that is unique in the industry. IPPS reimbursement is
calculated at the patient level and then summarized to provide a
reliable estimation of payment under various regulatory scenarios.
Reimbursement calculations based on actual claims data and
detailed reimbursement calculations provide a reliable measure of IPPS payment and can be summarized to suit various interests.
The cost of the
Impact Model is $2,800 for one hospital plus $200 for each
additional hospital included. Comparison groups (e.g. all
hospitals in specified area) are separately priced depending on
specifications.
