Components (Medicare Certified)

The report you are viewing for with period ending uses the 2552-96 format.

HCRIS version

A hospital may operate facilities in addition to the hospital itself.  Medicare certified components are identified from the hospital's most recent Medicare Cost Report (W/S S-2, part I, lines 3-19).

The Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandated the adoption of a standard unique identifier for health care providers. The National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) collects identifying information on health care providers and assigns each a unique National Provider Identifier (NPI).

NPIs for each component are taken from a NPPES file containing FOIA-disclosable data for health care providers. These data were reported by providers and providers are responsible for accuracy. Note that it is sometimes difficult to discertain the NPI for a component due to inadequate identifying information. You can click on an NPI number in order to view the FOIA-disclosable data reported.

For more information see the NPPES website and the CMS NPI website.
